When your clients arrive to their session with children in cowboy/cowgirl boots, most photographers will immediately plan that somewhere during their session they will photograph everyone's feet. And towards the end of our session, I found the perfect location for this photo. The family had just completed walking down this dirt road towards meet with the gorgeous sunlight behind them creating beautiful rim light. And once they approached, we did a few more photos of the family standing together looking at the camera smiling. But then, I wanted the photo that just showcase their outfits and shoes.
I loved everything about their styling for this session. We had a gorgeous Autumn afternoon in the South, so the girls were completely comfortable in their sleeveless peach dresses, but the boots just made the outfits.
So, for this photo, I stepped and adjusted my angle down, and after maybe two camera clicks, the youngest little sweetheart was curious why my camera lens was not angled towards their faces. She slowly bent her knees and brought her entire sweet face into view for me, as if to say, "you need my cute face in there to make it a great photograph."
Well, she wasn't wrong. I continued capturing the moment as it occurred, but I also chuckled and giggled through the next few photos. This sweetheart just cracks me up at each portrait session, and I adore her curious personality.
I love this photo so much, that it is now one of my favorites for my business cards and marketing materials. And I can't wait to photograph these cuties for my 4th session and third year in a row in just a few weeks.
