ABOUT ME

Behind the Lens

I’m happiest with a camera in hand, a dog by my side, and a passport ready for the next adventure. Whether I’m exploring new places or curled up with a glass of wine and my family nearby, I’m always chasing beauty—and capturing it with heart. Photography is my way of holding onto what matters most.

I'm Carolyn

Time moves faster than we ever expect. One day, your littles are holding your hand tightly, and the next, they’re stepping boldly into their future. As a high school senior and family portrait photographer, I don’t just document faces—I capture relationships, milestones, and the love that holds your family together.
For over 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of photographing families, and as my own children have grown, I’ve found a special connection with those navigating this same chapter. Whether it’s high school seniors preparing for their next adventure or families cherishing the moments before their kids spread their wings, I create portraits that reflect personalities, celebrate connections, and become lasting keepsakes for your home.

Optimist.  Lover of autumn,  travel, puppies, and sunsets.

my favorite things:

01

places i've been

I’m drawn to crisp air, golden leaves, and the quiet magic of Fall. My favorite adventures have taken me to Vermont’s winding roads and New York’s vibrant streets, always with my camera in tow.

02

guilty pleasure

I have a soft spot for Spartina 449 bags—there’s one for every season and mood. My current favorite? The Biltmore crossbody, a stylish little tribute to one of my most beloved destinations.

03

pastTime

My favorite pastime is traveling with my family to Irish dance competitions and performances. There’s nothing like watching my kids’ dreams come to life on stage—each moment is a memory I hold close. Thanks to Mary Slowey Photography for my own family session in Dublin, Ireland.

04

meal

Sushi is my ultimate comfort food. I could happily eat it every single day. Whether it’s a simple roll or a sashimi spread, it’s my go-to indulgence that never gets old. Red Sake and Baku are my local fave places.

05

human

This guy. My husband, Jim. He’s the one cheering me on, lifting me up, and somehow always helping turn my wildest dreams into reality.

06

part of my job

For me, photography doesn’t end with the session—it’s about guiding my clients all the way through, from first hello to final delivery. I love helping them choose pieces that feel personal, timeless, and perfect for their space.

about you

My clients are families who cherish connection and seniors who are ready to celebrate their story with confidence and style.

They don’t need to feel model-ready, they just want to feel like themselves. Whether it’s a family session filled with laughter or a senior portrait that captures personality, they value authenticity over perfection and trust me to guide the process with care.

They’re thoughtful, down-to-earth, and excited to create something meaningful. They want photos that feel like home, images that reflect who they are, where they’ve been, and where they’re headed. And they know that the best portraits aren’t just about how you look, but they’re about how you feel when you see them.

Portraits That Make You Feel Something

The heart of my work isn’t in the accolades, but instead it’s in the way a mom tears up when she sees her family together in a portrait that feels true. And it’s in the way a senior lights up when they see themselves reflected with confidence and warmth. I guide each session with care, from styling to final artwork, encouraging parents to jump into the frame and helping teens feel celebrated in this milestone season.

I photograph on location throughout Mecklenburg and Union Counties, including Ballantyne, South Park, Myers Park, Matthews, Waxhaw, and Fort Mill, SC. Whether we’re capturing giggles between siblings or a quiet connection between parent and child, my goal is simple: to create portraits that make you smile every time you pass them on your wall.

“It’s not just about the photograph, but it's about the way you feel when you see yourself in it.”
